Senator Udoma Udo Udoma is the 5th Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission. His appointment was ratified by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in June 2008.

He served as the Special Adviser to the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources between 1993 and 1994. Thereafter he was elected to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007. In this capacity, he served meritoriously and was at one time Chief Whip of the Upper Chamber of the Legislature, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, and Chairman of the Committee on National Planning, Economic Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Senator Udoma is the senior Partner of Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie, a firm of Legal Practitioners which he founded in 1983. He is Board Chairman of UACN PLC, Nigeria’s foremost, most diversified conglomerate. He also sits on the Board of other notable organizations including Linkage Assurance Plc as well as Unilever Nigeria Plc, a leading multinational.

He is a 1976 Law graduate of Oxford University, England and was called to the Bar in 1978. His background as a resource person in business and public policy, consultancy, legislation and reform is providing guiding impetus to the Commission’s mandate on investor protection.
