INVESTIGATIONS
FROM YEAR 2004 To APRIL, 2008
A
total of 6,490 complaints were investigated by the Commission
during the period.
a) INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINTS AGAINST STOCKBROKERS
3,040
complaints against Stockbrokers were received and investigated.
The complaints are classified as follows:
>
Unauthorized/ fraudulent sale of shares by stockbrokers;
> Illegal transfer of shares by Stockbrokers;
> Non-remittance of share sale proceeds by stockbrokers;
> Non- purchase or undue delay in the purchase of shares by
stockbrokers on behalf of investor;
> Falsification of clients accounts and ;
> Miscellaneous complaints (among operators).
b) INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINTS AGAINST REGISTRARS
3,450
complaints received against Registrars. The complaints were in
respect of the following:
>
Non- receipt of certificates, dividend warrants, bonus or return
monies from Registrars
> Non verification of shares by Registrars
> Non- issuance of share certificate by companies
In
addition, miscellaneous complaints such as transfer of account
in the CSCS, complaints by beneficiaries in respect of deceased
investor’s shares and loss of certificates were also investigated
by the Division.
